What is your approach to Dog Training?

My approach to dog training is Force Free, Fear Free, and rooted in Positive Reinforcement. In practice, this means I focus on building trust and clear communication with your dog, using rewards like food, toys, play, or praise to encourage desired behaviours. Positive reinforcement isn’t just about handing out treats- it’s about creating an environment where your dog feels safe, motivated, and understood.

I take a holistic view of behaviour, considering your dog’s physical health, emotional wellbeing, and daily environment. Before beginning training, I recommend consulting a trusted veterinarian to rule out any medical factors that may influence behaviour.

I do not use aversive methods such as leash corrections, intimidation, or electronic collars. Instead, I help dogs and their families move toward humane, science-based strategies that strengthen relationships and set everyone up for long-term success.

Why don't you guarantee behaviour changes?

Behaviour Modification becomes UNETHICAL (and cruel) when Behaviour Changes are made out as guarantees. Guarantees imply "by any means necessary", and many of the "means" available to the average dog guardian require no competency for their use.

Dogs have complex umwelts that are different from humans, and they can experience a vast array of emotions (sometimes even conflicting emotions). Emotion and behaviour are intrinsically linked, and just like with the human experience, there is no "cure" or "fix" for emotions. While Behavioural responses can be modified to a certain extent (which depends entirely on the individual dog), anyone who is making guarantees regarding your dog's behaviour are doing so at the expense of your dog's emotional wellbeing. Simply put, that isn't me.

My Dog is Aggressive- can you help me?

Although I have worked with fearful, reactive dogs, and dog's with bite histories, true Dog Aggression is not my areas of expertise.

If you are seeking help with severe Dog Aggression at this time, I would advise you seek the help of an experienced Force Free, board certified Veterinary Behaviorist.

Where are you located?

I am physically located in Orleans, but I do not train out of my place of residence, and I have no facility of my own at this time. Therefore, I provide in-home training and training in public spaces (when appropriate) to residents of East Ottawa and Beyond! Travel fees may apply.
