Our Story
Force-Free, Science-Based Training
Hey there, I'm Lynzey- owner of Swell Hound Dog Training and Behaviour Consulting!
While I've been a life-long dog (and cat) guardian, I began my official education with animals at Fleming College for Wildlife Management and Technologies. I've been privileged in my career to have worked with a wide variety of Ontario wildlife, such as racoons, skunks, bats, wild turkeys and wolves! During one of my contract positions working as a management biologist and wildlife technician on the airfield of Toronto Pearson Airport, I was able to train my own dog (Indy) for bird abatement. Working with Indy was (and still is) such a fun experience that I knew I wanted more! Thus began my journey into dog training (and subsequently, behavior consulting!)

In 2021, I earned my first Positive Reinforcement certification through Good Dog Academy (Certification #: 21PPDT118), and shortly after, acquired my Fear Free Certification, L.E.G.S Family Dog Mediator certificate, and Diploma in Canine Behaviour from the International School of Canine Psychology & Behaviour (The ISCP). I am also a member of the Canadian Association of Professional Dog Trainers (CAPDT Member 695), and the Pet Professional Guild (membership # 70283758). I am continuously researching and staying up-to-date with the latest science behind dog training and behavior (a perfect, never-ending project for the nerd in me)!

For me, dog training and behaviour consulting goes beyond "having an obedient dog"; in fact, "obedience" is not what I do. Instead, it's about cultivating a secure attachment with our furry companions, creating clear lines of communication from human to dog (and vice versa), and learning to navigate the natural flow of our relationships in a healthy, positive way!

Just like human relationships, each client has their own unique personalities and dynamic with their dog. My job is to make sure that everyone is on the same page and working together to set each other up for success. Life can be hard enough, let's not make our relationship with our dogs one of those obstacles!
